Happily Ever After Part 11

And friends. The time has come. For my last and final Ever After High doll in the first wave. Can you believe I now have them all? It's awesome and I love them ALL!

Here she is. The last and final of my collection. (Well, I should say final...for now!)

Apple White!

Apple was another one that was not a "have to have." Now that I have her and she's out of the box, I'm glad I have her. She is not one that will disappoint! She really is a beautiful doll.

Her dress is red (like apples) and gold (because she's the next queen). Her little bolero top is separate from her dress. The dress is stiff and holds it's shape well.

I kind of liked the way her purse was attached so I left it with the rubber band. This purse is CUTE! And I just tried it. It is a FUNCTIONAL purse! You can put things in it! She also wears a cuff bracelet.

Apple has a gold two-finger ring. It's super cute but after I took the band off, it slid right off her finger. I reattached it with rubber bands.

I will say that Apple has some interesting eye makeup. If you watch the webisodes she wears a light black eyeshadow. In the makeup world, those with blond hair should wear cool colors (pinks, blues, and shimmers) and brown eyeliner and mascara. It is strange to see Apple with dark grey or light black eyeshadow.

I'm glad they toned it down a little in her doll form.

Apple's earrings also have a bow with a little dangly ball on them.

She wears a red bow headband with a crown on top. I would have preferred instead of the crown being one solid gold piece, have a little more open detail like her picture.

I like Apples hair. It's got nice curl and the box didn't seem to mess it up too bad. It does look longer on one side but that's how it's supposed to be. They have part of her left side up in a rubber band because the right side is supposed to be down around the side of her face.

The SHOES!

Apple comes to us with none other than apple inspired shoes. The toes are rounded like apples and the heel contains a leaf and a curly-cue that can sometimes form around an apple stem (and pumpkins too!). These platform heels are super cute.

And to continue with the theme of bows, the shoes have them too. So cute.

I honestly love Apple more than I thought I would. She is a really pretty doll. But I am like some and wonder what she would have looked like with dark hair. I guess we'll never know unless someone wants to try their hand at a reroot. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Let me know what you think of Apple White! Love her, don't like her, let me know in the comments!

Until next time!

Happily Ever After part 10

I mentioned in my last post with Cupid that I got my package with my new purchaseS. As in plural! There are more Ever After High Dolls to post about! What can I say, i'm obsessed!

Presenting to you...Blondie Lockes!

Blondie wasn't a doll that struck me as being one of my "have to haves." But I wanted all the first wave of Ever After High and after getting her, she kind of grew on me.

On the other hand, her Thronecoming doll is WOW!

Let's get to it!

She has a cute little dress that is reminiscent of Goldielocks. And it has pictures of the three bears on it! I take that back. If you look around the entire skirt it has pictures of 5 bears on it.

Her top has pictures of keys on it.

Blondie has a cute charm bracelet with pictures of hearts, a key, and bears on it.

She has a heart purse with a keyhole on it and a ring that bears the same heart pattern.

Her dangly earrings are a key and a bear. It's hard to see in these pictures.

The SHOES!

Blondie has short boots with fir at the top and the heel is a key. Really cool!

Blondie has cute bangs with a bow at the top of her hair.

She has wavy hair but unfortunately the box left a bald spot that I've been trying to cover up (don't you hate that!) What's neat though is that you can see that there are streaks of darker golden hair mixed in with her blonde. Overall, I'm pleased with Blondie's hair.

Blondie falls into the ranks of the Ever After Royals. However Goldilocks was not a princess. It's actually kind of funny in the webisodes she tries to prove that she comes from a history of ancient kings and queens and she'll tell anyone who wants to listen. :) She can also open any locked door which proves helpful for the other girls who may have locked themselves out of their dorm room. :) I think that's a cute feature.

Honestly Blondie is not a real exciting character, I like her doll and I think she's a good addition but I don't LOVE her.

What do you think of Blondie Lockes? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time!

Happily Ever After Part 9

Hello Friends!

Sorry for the short hiatus. There have been a few things that have popped up that prevented me from posting.

1. My latest package arrived late. What is with the post office these days?
2. I found out i'm pregnant! No definitive sickiness/icky-ness yet but just kind of "blah"
3. Our house DESPERATELY needed a deep clean..... you know you just gotta do it when the time comes!

So now that my package arrived safely with my new purchases *squee* I can present to you, the last and final (so far) of the Ever After Rebels.

C.A. Cupid!

According to the Ever After High Wiki, C.A. stands for Chariclo Arganthone. I'm not really sure how to pronounce that but okay! We'll go with C.A. :)

Cupid actually comes to us from Monster High! It's hard to tell that from her story bookmark she comes with (although she does use a lot of "Monster High" isims) but you can easily tell from her webisode titled "Here Comes Cupid." They specifically tell you that she comes from Monster High to help Ever After High students follow their true hearts desire.

my photo via everafterhigh.com

Cupid is the adopted daughter of Eros, the Greek God of Love. She fits into the rebel side of Ever After High because she feels that a pre-written destiny gets in the way of true hearts desire. She does not have a pre-written destiny but was brought over from Monster High for that one purpose. However, she also thinks she can write her own happily ever after like some of the other students (Raven Queen.)

I think it's neat that they have this link because Ever After High is the spinoff of Monster High.

Onto the doll!

I like CA and she is well designed...in most aspects. However the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

Cupid has just a genuinely sweet face (I think that Ashlynn is another that has a true sweet face)

Her features are awesome, they gave her the cupid lips and her pupils have heart reflections. So cute! Her makeup is all done in pink hues.

She comes with a bow and arrow (naturally) and I chose to keep it banded to her hand. I think this is a prop that would not stay on her hand well even though there is a little hand hold for it. (if someone else had success with her holding the bow without the bands, please let me know. I'd love to get rid of them!)

She also has the standard two-finger ring. Her's looks like an arrow bent around into a ring.

Her dress is very well designed and very reminiscent of ancient Greek mythology. From the petal type shoulders, to the wrap around front, to the cloud and arrow design on the skirt. It's cute! Cupid also wears a belt that has a design of a leaf pattern and ribbons on the side. It's cute and goes with her outfit well.

She has a headband that bears a heart and arrow design and she wears simple black stud heart earrings.

Her wings are attached at the neck and again we have that arrow bent into a ring theme. This is a great way to do wings as it allows you to change her outfit without compromising the functionality of the wings. Just remember how many times you couldn't change the clothes on your fairy Barbies because they would no longer have wings? No holes in the clothes for them? So this is a great move by Mattel.

I had to redo Cupid's hair a little. In the box they push her hair out to the sides and it's slightly curled...and slightly gelled. I brushed it out because it looked funny the way it came out of the box. It's still got a wave and I'm okay with that! I'm okay with it because it's pink! You know me and dolls with pink hair!

The SHOES!!!

Okay, Mattel outdid themselves again with these shoes. Along with Ashlynn, Holly, and Maddy, we have another pair of super detailed shoes that are just plain cool.

Her shoes are detailed with a filigree pattern on the toes, a heart where the heel and the sole meet, and an arrow for the heel.

And I love the wings on them too! Winged shoes make me think of track shoes. (or in the video game Zelda OoT, the Hover Boots have wings on the back). In this case, they fit her theme well.

I need to find the designer of the shoes and find out how to get these in human form. LOVE!

Lastly, Cupid comes with a little quiver to hold her love arrows :) So cute.

Here are the cons I have with the doll.

First, you cannot sling her quiver over her shoulder with the wings on. Having the quiver hang on her arm looks funny. So this prop has to sit by her feet.

Second, my Cupid's joints seem to be super loose. One reason why I wanted to keep the bow attached to her hand/wrist. I tried to sit her down just now and there was such a loud popping sound I was sure I just broke her in half. Tight hip joints, loose everything else.

Third, the stand needed to be a different design for a doll that has wings. It is impossible for her to wear the wings while on the stand. I finagled it enough that I could get the wings to look halfway decent but it's tough.

I already know a couple of you who love Cupid! Do you love her Monster High counterpart better than her Ever After High counterpart? I think with the face styling and the cupid lips it makes the Monster High look like she's sucking in her cheeks. The MH doll is also going for high high dollars so I don't think I'll be getting her anytime soon. I'd like to have both someday though.

Do you like C.A. Cupid? Think she was a good link from Monster High to Ever After High? Think Mattel could have done something differently? Let me know in the comments!

Also, do you have the Monster High Cupid? Let me know as well!

Next post coming in a couple of days. Stay tuned!

Happily Ever After Part 8

Friends.

FRIENDS.

I caved.

See what happens when the hubby is gone for an evening? I go shopping..... :)

Meet the latest addition to my Ever After High collection.

Cedar Wood!

I've been waiting to get Cedar for a while because her price never really dropped that much. I read online that there are quite a few people who still can't find her in stores. Online she is priced at $21.99 but at Target they have all their Ever After High dolls for $19.99 so I picked her up.

Cedar is really one of the cutest. She has the cupid lip design, earrings that look like tree rings and a little green grasshopper in her hair.

Her outfit is a great take on her fathers. A collar and ruffled sleeves add to the cuteness of it.

Cedar also has a butterfly ring and a charm bracelet that has animal charms separated by leaves.

I think what makes Cedar truly unique is her skin. They really designed it to look like wood and Mattel did a fabulous job.

She has detail from her head to toes. Even her face has some of that detail too!

I love her knee high socks with the ribbons on the side. I've heard of some Cedar dolls that have mismatched height on the socks. This was the last Cedar that Target had and I am glad to say that hers were the same length!

The SHOES!

Cedar wears some adorable sandals with a chunky heel that looks like a forest floor. So perfect for her.

She also comes with a purse that does open and close (however there is not enough room inside to store any goodies.

I was surprised to find out her hair is lightly gelled (most likely to keep the curls intact). I had to do a little fluffing up since the hair tends to get smashed in the back. But I think her hair is just beautiful. I love the curls!

Friends, what do you think of Cedar? Do you think she makes a nice addition to the Ever After High collection?

A couple of things I also found at my local Target.

I saw C.A. Cupid and Blondie Lockes of the Thronecoming collection. TO. DIE. FOR. They are very beautiful dolls and I think I will have to have them. ;) I think Cupid is the prettiest one though. With her whisps of hair in front and her gladiator sandals? LOVE!

And answer me this. I saw Apple's Fainting Couch and Ravens Destiny Vanity on clearance for about $11 each. Worth it or not? I'm not really sure if I want any furniture which really makes me wish that Thronecoming Briar didn't come with the playset. Oh well!

Until next time!
