New Clothes?

So remember this little cutie I got a while ago at the thrift store?

 photo IMG_8360_zps708a7d53.jpg

Well, I have a thing for pink hair so I bought her. She has a missing hand but I don't care. She got a bath and her pink hair is shiny and clean. Love it! But this Rochelle Gargoyle still needs an outift. I searched online and I think this is her original one.

It's super cute but on other blogs I've been seeing some extra super-duper cute outfits for Monster High dolls. I saw this one the other day.

Love those shoes!

But here is where you come in!

Post me some links of your favorite Monster High outfits and I'll see what I can scrounge up for my one and only Monster High cutie.

Also, do you know if there are replacement wings for her? She is missing those too!

Stay tuned!

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope all of you have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend! DRIVE SAFE, I saw three state troopers in less than a mile on my way home from work today.

What do you like to do on Memorial Day? Visit family? Maybe have a barbeque cookout or picnic? This girl, she LOVES to camp!

 photo IMG_9199_zps45c516dc.jpg

This is Camp Teresa and if I had to pick one of my Teresa's, she is my absolute favorite. I love her hair, cute clothes, everything!

She is so beautiful. I think the hair color is what gets me the most. It's kind of a sunbleached look. Most Teresa's have darker hair but not her. They gave her a lighter one which I love love love.

 photo IMG_9201_zpsfea9143d.jpg

Someday I will have all the Camp dolls. I love them!

I won't get too much into Camp Teresa because she is going to be featured in a post very soon! When I was little I gave her a "vehicle" so that is going to be featured as well. I've been wanting to do it for a while but...you know how that goes!

Do you have any Camp dolls? If you don't, you should. ;)

Again, have a very fun Memorial Day weekend!

Hooray for Hollywood!

www.wallpaperpin.com
For years Hollywood has always amazed us all. I mean, that's were all the movie stars live right? And the iconic letters that sit high above the city. What a place! It's so amazing that there have even been songs written about from singers such as Jay-Z and Madonna.

But what about this Hollywood song? When we think of "Hooray for Hollywood" I think of this version by Doris Day. (It's 3 minutes and features big name silver screen stars. Well worth the time to watch!)

Also when I think of "Hooray for Hollywood" I think of her.

 photo IMG_9179_zps810e6ae2.jpg

"Hooray for Hollywood" was a Barbie that came out in the Avon catalog back in the early 00's. My mom sold Avon so I acquired all of these cool, unique dolls that you usually don't see everywhere. This is one of my favorites.

The back of the box has a little story about our glamour girl.

 photo IMG_9180_zpsc0692267.jpg

It reads: "It is Hollywood's Golden Era, and the world-famous star of the silver screen, Barbie, has just arrived for the premiere of her movie, "Sweet Romance." Barbie dolls' glamorous look is timeless. Her golden gown is pure sophistication. Shimmery and sleek, it is finished with a dramatic full flare. Her gold-tone shoes and luxurious white stole are classics. With her tickets and program, Barbie is ready for enjoy her latest film. But first, she smiles warmly, then waves to the crowd and signs an autograph or two, giving her fans even more reasons to cheer "hooray.""

Cute write up!

Ready to view Barbie? Here she is, at the premiere like they said!

 photo IMG_9181_zps394abd69.jpg

What a cute box design! I had to hold the top up while I took the picture. It kept falling down from years of storage. The pop-up top is such a cute idea.

Look how pretty she is.

 photo IMG_9182_zpse4ce250b.jpg

We are in luck because the box is Barbie friendly! Boxed but deboxed pictures!

I love that her lips are super red. It reminds me of that era when red was in. Hair is so pretty!

 photo IMG_9184_zpscaa4218c.jpg

The write up mentioned shoes. I forgot to get a pic of those but I did get a pic of the cute little purse. It reminds me of some of the vintage Barbie purses that I played with when I stayed with my Grandma (which were leftover pieces from my mom's collection).

 photo IMG_9185_zps2926df3b.jpg

She wears elbow length black gloves and holds her tickets. Elbow length black gloves remind me of Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's."

And you even got a free gift with this doll: your very own movie clapboard keychain!

 photo IMG_9186_zps5f8cef82.jpg

There have been a few more Hollywood dolls that have come out through the years. I even think that they made an Audrey Hepburn doll from her movie "Breakfast at Tiffanys." But in my collection I have a couple.

First, Superstar Barbie! One of my favorites and I have an entire blog post about her here. Then in a post last month, I wrote about how I got Superstar Ken at a garage sale. You can read about it here.

So I paired the two up and they are all ready to go to the Academy Awards!

Ken and his lovely date Barbie.

 photo IMG_9189_zpsb6e72a48.jpg

Ken says "I have the prettiest date!"

 photo IMG_9191_zpsaf09e92e.jpg

Barbie says "I'm a lucky girl to have a date as handsome as you!"

 photo IMG_9192_zps1b6a98db.jpg

They are really cute together.

 photo IMG_9190_zpsbcbd2f39.jpg

And for the last doll of the post, my beautiful Hollywood Hair Teresa. Don't you just love this color of orange?

 photo IMG_9194_zps6dcd4216.jpg

I got her as a Christmas gift from my Grandma years ago. As I've mentioned before, I have quite a few Teresa's in my collection. My mom and grandma were torn on who to buy for me as my name is Teresa but I look more like Barbie because of my blond hair. But I'm not complaining. I love my Teresa dolls!

 photo IMG_9196_zps67609948.jpg

Check this hair! Super long and I think was the longest hair of the time (until Jewel Hair Mermaid, which I also have in the Teresa version).

 photo IMG_9197_zpsf9b2482c.jpg

So why is she "Hollywood" hair? It's because you take the comb with the stars on it and use it as a stencil then use the spray to create stars in the hair. It really works like it says it does! The stars in her hair faded over time but I didn't try it today. I think it might be the different color hair that reacts with the spray. Does anyone know the secret to the magic color change hair?

 photo IMG_9198_zps6f0d05ff.jpg

I also have one of the Hollywood Hair Fashions. This fun gold outfit with a movie reel on the jacket! It's so cute but I didn't get a picture of it on a doll. It's so fun though!

Anything Barbie wears is befitting for a movie star. But do you have any Hollywood dolls?

Until next time!

Progress!

You all will be so proud of me. I actually made some real progress on my dolls and projects! So, here are the updates!

First, just a minor change to one doll. Remember this doll with the REALLY bad haircut?

 photo IMG_8469_zpsaef2266e.jpg

And then I dressed her in the vintage dress from the Orange Blossom wedding set and gave her a super cute vintage wig?

 photo IMG_8470_zps52446497.jpg

So the change was to cut her hair a little shorter so the wig will look better and the ends won't be sticking out. So that was the first thing I did. Honestly, she doesn't look any different except that you can't see the blond hair underneath. So I didn't get a fresh pic.

Next. Prince got a BATH!

Prince was super dirty. But I headed to the sink with my awesome smelling shampoo and conditioner and gave him a scrub. (Not that Prince needs color vibrancy or anything) :)

 photo IMG_9155_zpsba84cb06.jpg

However, the shampoo wasn't working well. I quickly realized that Prince is not synthetic but cloth (similar to a stuffed animal) so I grabbed the Woolite and scrubbed him again.

 photo IMG_9156_zpsdb9989b1.jpg

 Much better, and brighter!

 photo IMG_9158_zps4ede8a58.jpg

After bathtime was done, I wrapped him in a towel and gave him a brush and a quick rundown with a warm blow dryer.

 photo IMG_9159_zpse67e6500.jpg

I gave him a little touch up on his nose and lips with a sharpie and adjusted his beret.

 photo IMG_9162_zps692ef788.jpg

Lastly I reattached his collar. Perfect! He is ready to be displayed on my shelf with Day to Night Barbie. :) I love how he is so French!

 photo IMG_9161_zps408b6730.jpg

Now, remember a while ago when I got this doll? (The one in the middle.)

 photo IMG_8355_zps0f072544.jpg

I thought she might be a doll that has an intricate hair-do because her hair was so stiff. Well, thanks to Andrea, she informed me that she is Cool Lookz Trendy and Bendy Barbie.

So the reason her hair is so stiff is because she has special hair which you can bend in any style.

Well, to start it's impossible to comb. Because of the little "white" hairs (which are the wires) you cannot get a comb through it. If you try, the wire will separate from the rest of the hair so then you have to find a way to stick it back in the hair section. So I figure that the best way to go about this is just to style her hair differently sans brushing. And Barbie hair is so fun when it's in ringlet curls right?

So I started the task of taking each section, smoothing it out and twisting it around a pencil. If there were any straggling ends, I just cut them off as shown in the pic. If any locks were really matted and flyaway, I gave them a quick touch with some hair smoothing spray.

 photo IMG_9167_zpsca648bf9.jpg

The curls are really magic, they just stay in place!

 photo IMG_9168_zpsaf57aa20.jpg

It was definitely a chore to try and separate all those pieces of hair. Someone wanted twisties so I had to un-do all of those then curl them. This took forever!

 photo IMG_9169_zpsa89bbab5.jpg

Okay, all done! Just kidding ;)

 photo IMG_9170_zpsfd7630f3.jpg

I didn't bathe her in the last batch of dolls because I wasn't sure how that would be on the wire hair. So I just wiped her body down and cleaned her up. And also adjusted the hair so they are no longer Medusa curls. :)

And she is so cute so she needs an outfit. A cute dress will do the trick. What do you think of Trendy and Bendy Barbie?

 photo IMG_9171_zps5523c3b9.jpg

The curls are SO cute! And not too many flyaway ends either. For how horrible this hair was, I think that's a definite win!

 photo IMG_9172_zpsc1b6491f.jpg

 photo IMG_9173_zps9774f7b2.jpg

Okay, time for the last project. Remember when I made these shoes a while back and I thought it would be fun to make a pair for Barbie?

 photo FinishedProduct_zps59a8b35d.jpg

Well, I FINALLY started!

Here we go, Mod Podge, fabric, and Barbie shoes. We don't need a lot of fabric for this project nor do we need two of the same color shoes. This was the perfect time to dig into the bag of mismatched shoes and grab a couple (make sure they are the same shape!)

 photo IMG_9163_zps4b7105d0.jpg

I didn't have an old paint brush (or one small enough for that matter) to apply the Mod Podge to the shoes so I just used my fingers. I don't recommend this as Mod Podge is not like glue and does not wash off easy. It sticks to the fingernails something fierce!

After you apply the Mod Podge to the shoe, press the fabric over it and make sure it's smooth. Then you want to cut off some of the excess fabric and the shoe opening. But make sure you leave enough to wrap around the heel.

 photo IMG_9165_zps3f3a39fa.jpg

Then after it sits overnight or so, you can start gluing down the ends that did not get stuck. I used a toothpick to apply the Mod Podge here. Much easier than the finger!

 photo IMG_9174_zps7e7468c6.jpg

I'm not completely done with them yet but I just had to try them on a doll. What do you think so far?

 photo IMG_9175_zpse9d65ab9.jpg

The other side

 photo IMG_9176_zps68131d28.jpg

And the front!

 photo IMG_9177_zpse76c8a06.jpg

The reason why there is still a chunk of fabric is I haven't yet wrapped it around the heel. :)

Want to make a pair of these shoes for yourself? Check this post at Love Maegan. She gives a great tutorial. The best part is you get to personalize them! Make them all YOU. I wanted to wear mine to a luau in Hawaii so I chose Hibiscus print.

Hopefully I'll continue my creative streak in the next post.

Until then!

Barbie hits the land down under

Greetings!

Barbie project update: I made copies of all the patterns that my mother in law let me copy. I purchased a pretty pink sparkly notebook and some protector sleeves to put them in. Now all I have to do is bust out the sewing machine and get to work!

HOWEVER.....I just found out that my dad bought me a brand new (brand-new as in, only used twice) sewing machine at a garage sale! It does all the fancy stuff that mine can't do. Mine is a basic BASIC Brother and in addition to only doing straight and ziz-zag stitches, the pedal is sticky resulting in very fast and uneven stitches that I have to get under control with the right pressure on the right part of the pedal.

So annoying!

So I want to hold out for the new Singer waiting for me 150 miles away. But who knows? Maybe I'll bust out the Brother and give it a whirl. I just put in a new light bulb so I got to get some use out of that right? :)

Onto the doll for today!

Can you believe that there was one doll that I received for Christmas that I forgot to show you all? Ack, I know!

This Barbie is part of the new dolls of the world collection. She is my very first one and she is from Australia!

 photo IMG_8244_zps7828d9cf.jpg

My mom picked her out because of the cute little koala bear on the arm. How precious is that?

First of all, let's talk about how this doll is packaged. Perfectly! The box opens up like a book allowing for some unfiltered boxed but deboxed pictures! I love when that happens, don't you?

She has almost an ethereal look. Sort of daydreamy to me (in a way.) The glassy blue eyes are beautiful. Not quite digging the plastic hat but it fits well. Perfect for a day in the outback!

 photo IMG_8245_zps24d6b68d.jpg

Her outfit is adorable. My favorite is the cargo skirt. And the bag and snakeskin belt adds a perfect touch. And wow! Check those boots!

 photo IMG_8287_zps29f29165.jpg

But the best accessory? The cute little koala bear!

 photo IMG_8289_zps142b458c.jpg

So here is an interesting fact. I've been to New Zealand. Beautiful country by the way, if you get a chance to go, do. It's awesome. As I was walking around the city of Dunedin (du-NEE-dən) one day, I had two complete strangers ask me if blond was my natural hair color. At first I was a little offended but then realized that most New Zealanders are of Maori Indian descent so then I could understand why they were thinking I was a tourist. Super nice people too.

I wonder if Australian's are the same way (since the countries are so close together.) But either way, blond or not, Barbie is still cute as always!

What is your favorite doll of the world?

Until next time!
